This self-portrait is so unusual ... it is arresting! It really grabbed my attention ... seeming to capture one frame of a desperate story. It stirs so much emotion ... as though you are contorted with despair ... turning your face away in shame.
I appreciate that it's unconventional and the colors and lighting just add to the allure. Congrats on the DD and very well deserved!
Yesss I've been mentally complaining about this for a loooooong time, always naked women on DD seriously there are more than one sex in homo sapiens and I demand more males!!!I'm tired of tits on DD's page.
Good job, this is still clean and yet it unnerves....
Folks? There is more about a picture than the Model themselves - it's called WORK. The Model put effort into this, the photographer sure did as well. There is whatever you want this picture to be like. It MIGHT stir up emotions inside you and they MIGHT not be so well but there is no reason to load a pile of concerns on the photographer just because you can't do anything with this. Don't like - don't look - just as easy as that. DD's are features on the BOTTOM of the dA front page and an extra portion of the Today-Page. DD's aren'T meant to mark something more speacial than something else. DD's are like the features you guys put in your journals - just that they are daily and what is picked is just like your own private features based on the taste of a CV (in this case). Don't like theur taste? Complain o THEM not to this photographer. </rant>
The photo itself is perfectly fine. I could chose to see a lot of emotion in this regarding the whole set up - yes I see a set-up in this - I think it's not pure coincidence that this looks as it does. I'm not even sure if this qualifies as a nude as you do not see any genitals but then again there is the naked butt so I guess that's the deal xD Anyways don'T worry about the jerks who are against this. There is nothing wrong with this. I'm unfortunately not overly into male models so I can'T really say anything constructive - but this piece definitely shines in their own personla way
wait this is a self portrait? For a self portrait it is pretty awesome
Just don'T give a shit on the haters...haters gonna hate - trolls gonna troll and yeah...I get a lot of controversial comments under my pictures because people are either overly fond of my shapes and pictures or the opposite ^^
actually the number of comments is raised and the number of comment counts in trhe statistic - I've seen works among the most popular that have more comments than vies or favs...so the comment DO count on some regard I guess
Very interesting pose which conveys some interesting (and conflicting) emotions. I enjoy the originality seen here by using a male model and the fact that the male model is not at peak fitness My one complaint at the image is that i find his right thigh to be distracting to the image as it is oddly round due to the angle and muscle. It makes me focus only on it and bypass the other aspects of the image. If fact it is why i clicked on the thumbnail. Just somethign to keep in mind :3
this is super delayed sorry~ ?? I was under the impression that all artists need help to further grow in a artistic manner. That is sorta the point of this site is it not? Whether it be called "help" or "constructive critisism" it is still helping the artist develop their style and so forth.
My point being I am no hater or lover. I simply liked your piece and told you what i felt could be changed in the future to better it. I won't lie it is mildly offensive to me that you replied as you did(rudely) when i spent time trying to help you as i do many deviants on this site; so i am sorry if my response sounds rude but i want to clearly convey what iwas getting at in my first response

The comments for this have proven to be very interesting. There is a definite double standard happening here. If a woman is posed like this, people comment on how attractive her body is. If a man is posed like this, he's too masculine and borderline grotesque.
It's very interesting, and personally, I have to respect the selection of this as a DD. I appreciate this photograph for its grungy feeling and somber mood, but the selection of it as a DD is a bold decision in itself. Kudos to both that person and the photographer, to post this compelling image in the first place.
And look at that ass! That's the reason I clicked on this picture. It's a beautiful image and I love what was done with the whole piece. But, that man's ass takes the cake. It is the crowning jewel of this entire image. It just pulls everything together with a rippling explosion of manly posing goodness. It's like a perfect circle. On a natural body! C'est magnifique!
Well, it's probably been said a million times here. But, I'll put in my two cents anyway. Personally, I think it's pretty good. What I really don't get, though, is what the problem is with other people? I mean, to be honest, no, he may not be the "perfectly chiseled" male that a lot of past DDs featuring male models, but what's the problem in that? It's not like he's morbidly obese. He's not even fat either. But, then again, I've seen people complaining because female models weren't skeletons. There's nothing wrong with someone being more than that.
You don't like the DD? Okay. Go do your own thing now, there's no need to be rude about it.
I sense despair and somehow pleasure being emitted from this photo =o interesting work. Especially since it is called a nude and he still has his shoes and shirt on lol More like "partial nude". I shall forever call this the pantless man. Good job w/ the pantless man.
